Why is Vagina Tightening Performed?
The vagina is a structure consisting of connective and muscular tissue. Over time, depending on genetic factors, vaginal tissues may start to deteriorate and this results in vaginal enlargement.
The enlarged vagina does not pose any health problems, but in some cases it may need to be restored with a tightening operation. The most common reasons for vaginal tightening surgery are listed as follows:
- Sexual pleasure: Loosened and loose vaginal tissue reduces the pleasure received during sexual intercourse and causes various problems between spouses. For this reason, in cases of advanced loosening, vaginal tightening surgery is performed in order to have sexual pleasure and in this way, the vagina is tightened.
- Sound coming from the vagina: Unpleasant sounds may occur during sexual intercourse due to the loosened and loose vagina. These sounds can be disturbing for intercourse as they negatively affect concentration. As a result of vaginal tightening operation, these sounds from the vagina are minimized.
- Bladder and bowel prolapse: Genital organ prolapse causes self-confidence problems for women and reduces the level of orgasm and sexual arousal. These problems can be corrected with vaginal tightening surgery. During the surgery, sagging in the bladder, urinary incontinence problems and bowel prolapse problems can also be eliminated.
- Increased self-confidence: Vaginal enlargement causes self-confidence problems in women and adversely affects the relationships between spouses as it reduces sexual pleasure. In some cases, it also damages sexual self-confidence. In such cases, vaginal tightening operation can be performed.
- Vaginal infections: The enlarged vaginal structure causes vaginal infections to occur more frequently in women. Vaginal tightening should be performed to eliminate this problem.
How is Vaginal Tightening Performed?
Vaginal tightening operation is a procedure performed under general anesthesia and takes an average of 45 minutes to 1 hour. At the beginning of the procedure, a 6-7 cm incision is made from the entrance of the vagina and the tissues inside the vagina are removed.
Afterwards, the inside of the vagina is brought together layer by layer with absorbable sutures and narrowed. In case of sagging in the intestines, the relevant muscle tissues are tightened.
In order for the vaginal tightening operation to be successful, it must be performed in expert hands. As a result of the operation performed by experienced doctors specialized in their field, the enlarged vagina is tightened in a healthy way.
Recovery Process After Vagina Tightening
The healing process after vaginal tightening is 4-6 weeks on average, but full healing of the vaginal tissues is completed within 1 year. Since absorbable sutures are used during the operation, there is no need for stitches.
Patients can return to their daily activities with a few hours of rest after the procedure. It is necessary to wait at least 6 months after cesarean section to perform vaginal tightening surgery.
There is no problem in normal delivery after vaginal tightening operation, but some loosening of the vagina may be observed after delivery. For this reason, cesarean delivery may be preferred to prevent the vagina from being affected.
After the procedure, it is necessary to avoid sexual intercourse and not to enter the sea or pool due to infection. In addition, it is very important to keep the area clean and dry and protect it from impacts. Kegel exercises can be done to accelerate healing.
Since these exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, they help to increase the pleasure felt during sexual intercourse and prevent urinary incontinence problems.
