Nostril reduction surgery is the process of reducing the size of the nostrils in cases where the base of the nose is wide using surgical techniques called alar base reduction. This procedure is usually performed in conjunction with a tip rhinoplasty or rhinoplasty, but can also be performed alone.
The goal is not simply to reduce the size of the nostrils; it is to achieve a balanced and natural nasal base that is compatible with facial proportions. Wide nostrils can distort facial proportions, make the tip of the nose appear wide, and can also affect breathing in some patients. This surgery aims to balance the aesthetic projection and form by narrowing the base of the nose, rather than reducing the size of the nose.
