Although robotic hair transplantation is more successful compared to other procedures, it is disadvantageous in terms of cost, but operation risks such as margin of error, area sensitivity and optical illusion are equally low. The advantages that highlight the robotic application are as follows:
- It is a very easy and practical method, unlike other processes, it does not cause any problems since it is applied through automated robotic equipment.
- Thanks to the equipment used and 3D technology, the margin of error is zero.
- While there is a small risk of damaging the surrounding hair follicles, especially when donor roots are collected in classical hair transplantation processes, such a problem does not occur in robotic application and healthy follicles are not damaged.
- In FUE, DHI and FUT techniques, hair follicles are collected from a depth of 3 mm, while in robotic application, even 1.5 mm deep roots can be collected. Therefore, tissue sensitivity is kept to a minimum during the procedure and pitting is not observed in the area.
- Since 3D modeling is used during the preliminary examination, how and how long the process will be completed and what the results will be can be displayed precisely.
- Compared to other hair transplantation techniques, the recovery time is quite short and patient comfort is high.
- It is the closest hair transplantation application to the natural hair appearance.
Robotic hair transplantation, which is a comfortable and efficient technique for both the practitioner and the patient in Turkey, is a process that goes through certain stages. The application method can be summarized in 4 steps.
- Photographing: Before the robotic hair transplant starts, three-way photos of the hair are taken to decide how the procedure will be carried out and to apply the most efficient techniques. Thanks to the photographing work done on the back, side and front, important issues such as how much hair is missing in which area, which exit directions will be used during transplantation and which hair follicles are stronger are determined. In addition, the angle at which the sewing will be performed is automatically calculated and stored in the memory.
- Root Collection: After the donor area is determined with optical readers, the hair follicle collection process is started. Root collection is also carried out automatically, and it is possible to take healthy roots under the skin without damaging or breaking them. The number of sessions of the procedure, which allows to collect 2000-2500 roots in a single session, can be increased according to the needs of the person. During this synchronous process step, the hair follicles are collected without damaging the surrounding tissues, after which they are cleaned and deposited into the solution. Thus, it is ensured that they hold on to the application area where they will be added later.
- Channel Opening: In this step, the channels where the collected roots will be placed are opened in a sterile way, and the area is numbed with the help of a local anesthetic application before the procedure. The channel openers, which move in line with the millimetric measurements of the robotic equipment, allow the opening of microchannels in the area where the hair transplant will take place, in the number and angle determined by the physician. The size of the canals is so small that it will heal a few days after the procedure and there will be no scar after a week. In a single session, between 2000-3000 channels can be opened.
- Root Placement: The only manual method in robotic hair transplantation is the placement of the opened channels of the collected roots. In this step, the expertise and care of the physician is required to add the hair follicles in accordance with the natural hair growth direction. The total hair transplantation process is completed in an average of 6-7 hours and the patient is discharged after the application area is bandaged. According to one's own preference, there is no harm in returning to his social life on the same day.
The application and recovery period in robotic hair transplantation is very comfortable and convenient. Since tissue sensitivity is kept to a minimum during the procedure, the risk of symptoms such as swelling and redness in the next period is also very low. To further speed up the already easy healing process, these tips are recommended:
- After the procedure, the bandage wrapped around the area should not be removed for at least 48 hours. At the end of this period, washing can be done.
- It is very important to use only hair care and cleaning products recommended by the physician during hair washing.
- If the physician deems it necessary, tennis bands can be used for 3 days to eliminate the risk of infection.
After the procedure, minimal edema and swelling may occur in the application area. In order to increase the rate of edema removal, ice compresses can be applied hourly or edema-relieving drugs prescribed by the physician can be used.
- With the completion of the 24-hour period after the procedure, the patient is called for control and the success of the application is confirmed in this way.
- After the application, it is possible to return to work life immediately, the scars begin to heal within a few days and completely disappear within 1 week. However, in order to increase the success rate, it is necessary to listen to the doctor's recommendations, especially for the first 7-10 days.
In general, the attention and experience of the physician is very important in robotic hair transplantation, which minimizes the margin of error and the risks of complications. In order for the procedure to be completed as it should be and to provide maximum benefit to the person, first of all, the choice of the physician must be correct.
